The game became a popular pastime for everybody - mostly during traveling carnivals. The original rules suggested players use dry beans, which determined the popular name of the game - “Beano”. Ward was the first person to publish bingo rules in the book. The game was called “Il Giuoco del Lotto d′Italia” and it was basically the lottery, with players making money stakes and barkers chanting winning numbers.īingo games got across the United States in the early 1900s.
